how can i tell if my 1956 willys jeep is a cj3b or a cj5?
the title dont specify either ,just say 1956 willys
The CJ5 has the front fenders that curl around in the front, the CJ3’s are totally flat, and the hood is MUCH higher.
Here is a CJ5 – notice the front fenders curl

That was back at the time Willis went from flat fender to curved fender design I bet there is JEEP Club web site that can help. I drove on a winery in California a 1958 Jeep CJ-5 four door with a very durable F head Engine and dual power take off transfer case. There were lots of combinations of early CJ out there some were very customized for trecks into the AMAZON like the jeep we used.
