1941 Willys Coupe Electrical Hybrid – PlugNPlay – Pepsi Refresh Project

Overview
The PlugNPlay project intends to be the first step into a truly super hybrid educational experience. Students will build a vehicle will use no gasoline for power only electricity. PlugNPlay is designed to combine renewable energy resources into a portable unit that can extend the range of any vehicle operating solely on battery power.
This project will utilize 4 main sources of power. These Power Plants (think green) will serve as the only source of power for the vehicle. The main source of power is electricity from the home. We will also use wind, solar, and motion to generate the rest of the power. These already work on their own our plan is to put them all together.

Education and Youth
The car is only part of the story. PlugNPlay is intended to be an after school program where students can gather together as a team to solve problems and generate ideas.
PlugNPlay will be offered to students during their normal school year as part of an intensive study in the areas of science, technology, electrical engineering, business, graphics/design and journalism/reporting. This program will also have a focus in the industrial arts such as body shop, paint, restoration and interior.
During this 12 month hands-on experience, students will design and build a street legal car or truck that utilizes electricity as its only source of power. This is a team atmosphere where students will work together in a wide range of strengths in order to complete their project.
Students will have a chance to work with a variety of mentors while in the program. They will learn about the electrical conversion process and the availability of renewable energy as additional power sources. They will develop plans to integrate wind, solar and motion power sources into the vehicle as well as design battery layout and function. Other mentors will help guide the research and documentation, communication and actual vehicle build.
