F measuring that, … F measuring that, you should have lined it up freely while the trunk was down and pistons retracted. Less variables. Nice vid though and imagine I would have had much more trouble than that.
If this isnt enough, but im sure you’ve thought of this already…
air/hydrolic actuators are adjustable speed wise by regulators… and quiet. (besides the air compressor and release) and you could just use a (tire air stem) valve mounted in the license plate to open and close when battery is dead. or open the valve completely and open normally by hand and use a hood prop to hold open… it would be great if he had air ride… but oh well!
yes, its a show car … yes, its a show car and the deck lid is not really an everyday use thing but,
its not just that its slow it doesn’t go up very far either
think of the guy at the show,
“hey dude, is that all you can raise your Deck,
jeez his deck is slow going up
LOL
messylaura: i … messylaura: i noticed your comment on the other trunk bracket pete made too, and i thought same thing, ugly and in the way. but after seeing it trimmed out and done after Omar got to it it didnt look bad at all, small trunks on these anyway..these are crusiers not vacation cars. i think the other single arm bracket finishedd image is on petes website, its also a 34 coupe or vicky. the issue of one going dead and other working is one id like to hear tho…
That is why they … That is why they are mounted where they are, so if one does decide to go out, the other will still lift it with no problem. Also, there will be an access hole behind the seats. If I was to mount them on the far edge of the decklid on each side, then we would have a problem with one twisting and binding up… The deck lid only weighs approx, 30 pounds. But it’s the size of the thing that makes it where you have to use 2 actuators of this size.. THANKS FOR HOLLERING AT ME!
All the interior … All the interior parts you are looking at are going to be removed, and custom upholstery is going to be made for it. When the time comes we will get some good vids on it… Thanks Pete
NOT REALLY—-If … NOT REALLY—-If you look at the picture closely,, where the actuators lay in the car, you couldn’t put anything there anyway, because it’s too close to the deck lid, even when the actuators aren’t there. The space is only 5 inch’s high from floor to lid. This is a good place for them… Welding brackets, making brackets fabricating special hinge lift assemblys and all that would be very extravagant and EXPENSIVE.. You have to think of “THE BUDGET”, when doing this type of work!
Pete, it looks real … Pete, it looks real good, but i have an important ? for you so i’m gonna shout.
.
WHAT HAPPENS IF ONE ACTUATOR BREAKS OR STOPS WORKING WHILE THE OTHER ONE CONTINUES TO PUSH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STROKE?
Will it twist and tear up the fiberglass, or does the rod of the nonworking actuator extends.
@messylaura I see … @messylaura I see what you mean judging by the tub’s, i would say it will be 99% show 1% drive the trunk won’t hold much more that a match box is size anyway, from close to open it’s only 22 seconds, again your looking at a 5 foot lid, If you run the actuators down were the hinges are, your looking at maybe 800-1000lbs of force, + the strain on the parcel shelf the lid and the actuators.
also could you do a … also could you do a vid on the inner roof and inner window stuff, looking at the car it looks scruffy, just wondering how much prep and linning out with fiber glass the interior needs before its good enough to send for upholstery
hmmm, back to the … hmmm, back to the drawing board,
sorry Pete, thats up dude, too slow and too danm ugly, if you did put anything in the trunk its gonna get squashed by the actuators comming down
is there enough room for the actuators to sit under the rear parcel shelf and push the hinge from a welded bracket instead
