1954 Kaiser Special 2 Door Maroon

This car has been extensively updated, as you can see. It has an Olds V8, the engine it should have had when it was new. It also has a modern automatic transmission, ditching the Hydramatic that was original. The seats are updated power Lincoln. If only Kaiser had had a V8…it might have survived at least a few more years. After Kaiser cars’ demise, Kaiser Motors was left with Willys cars which would fold, and the Jeep, which of course, still lives.

1968 Jeepster Convertible BluWht

It’s very unusual to see one of these at a car show. Willys was the property of Kaiser even after Kaiser stopped producing their Kaiser and Henry J cars. AMC eventually bought Jeep. This one has a Buick V6, 225 c.i. displacement. It has the creature comforts of automatic transmission and the practicality of 4×4!

1967 Willys Military Utility Vehicle

This vehicle was present for the Memorial Day celebration I attended. By this time, Jeep was owned by Kaiser…they had earlier stopped making passenger cars..but still held onto Jeep. AMC would later buy Jeep from Kaiser. In talking to the owner, I found that the engine is a 6 cylinder, very rare, that has a type of hemispherical combustion chamber. It was only made for a couple years. Finding parts for it is the most difficult thing in restoring this vehicle. It was used for many purposes, and is outfitted now as a small troop carrier, with benches in the load bed to carry troops to the lines.

1937 Willys Sedan

If you ever wanted a glimpse of where the car market was going…this is it! Way ahead of its competitors, (the closest would be the Rambler Country Club hardtop) this stylish little car showed that it wasn’t necessary to drive a behemoth to get from point A to point B. This is the same company that would produce many of the Jeeps for WWII. They couldn’t handle the total production, so Ford devised its own Jeep. Notice the rear doors were hinged at the front of the door, not at the back as was customary at the time. Another forward looking feature! Many of these cars had big V8’s put in them for the dragstrip.

1930s WillysTruck

I don’t know the year, but this gem has a modern powerplant and automatic transmission. Can’t say that I remember a Willys truck of this vintage. I’m used to the postwar Willys Jeepster…this is an actual truck, and it is far better than when originally made! Check that interior..check the truckbed! What a great bonus as an advertising tool!

1968 Jeepster Commando 4X4

This is back in the days when Jeep was totally associated with four wheel drive! Nice little vehicle, and
I believe the early Jeepsters were really the start of the sport ute craze. This a more practical than the Jeep for hauling people and things around…a nice addition to a collection! This one has a v6…probably from Buick.
