1967 Jeep Jeepster Commando gets stuck in 2nd gear. What is wrong?

My 67 Jeepster Commando has a manual 4 speed transmission. I recently have had issues shifting from 2nd to 3rd and then today got stuck in 2nd gear. After coming to a stop and some vigorous shaking of the stick I was able to pop it free…only to get stuck again during my next shift out of 2nd. Clutch works fine and no difference with engine running or not. Fluid level is full and there are no visible indicators. Any ideas…linkage, internal…???

Thank you!

I would pull the top off the transmission (can be done in the Jeep) where the shifter goes into it. You either have a bent shift fork, guide or a bushing is worn out. It is not hard to check out and you will probably be able to fix it for next to nothing.

Your shift linkage and or shifter is worn or misaligned. Replace the bushings if possible and adjust.
