When you build a car around the principles of going fast and looking good, you either go big or go home; and with a big engine, big tires, big brakes and a big blower this killer 1941 Willys coupe LIVES that motto!

Titled as an actual 1941 Willys, this breathtaking ‘41 coupe began life as a straight and smooth fiberglass body from Clayton Custom Cars in Raleigh, North Carolina. Once the body arrived for its full shakedown, the slick panels were covered in House of Kolor Cinnamon Pearl, sealed in FIVE coats of UFC 35 clear and rubbed to a fantastic shine. The result is one bad street rod with absolutely no sign of orange peel, gaps that are exceptionally narrow and moving parts which close with a solid seal that is more akin to a modern Corvette.

Under the cars fiberglass hood you’ll find a completely detailed GM Performance Parts ZZ502 big block V8 which makes a dyno-proven 751 horsepower. At the top of the motor, a pair of boost-referenced Mighty Demon carburetors mix air from the polished shotgun intake with a steady stream of fuel which travels through a frame mounted Holley HP 125 fuel pump, a chrome Holley fuel regulator, a pressurized fuel gauge and polished stainless fuel lines. At the base of those carburetors, a polished 8-71 billet blower, supplied by The Blower Shop, sits between polished aluminum Edelbrock RPM heads and an MSD billet distributor. At the top of those heads, you’ll find chrome “Willys” branded valve covers, at the sides of those heads you’ll notice polished wire looms which hold Taylor performance wires; and under those heads, you’ll see polished long tube headers which look great next to the big silver block. At the front of the motor, a polished serpentine system with polished pulleys spins a chrome alternator and polished AC compressor, which is complete with polished stainless lines, above a polished Meziere water pump. That water pump receives water from a polished brass radiator which is equipped with two chrome electric fans, chrome flex hoses and polished overflow tanks.

The car’s big engine is backed by a proven GM Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission which is equipped with both a 2,700 RPM stall converter and a durable, finned pan. Power from that tried and true transmission flows through a 1350 U-joint to a Strange nine inch rear end that turns tall 3.70 billet aluminum gears and Moser axles. The cars chassis is a sturdy boxed frame that has been powdercoated satin gray for durability. At the front of that chassis, polished tubular control arms combine with aluminum coil over shocks, a polished Heidts manual steering rack and polished tie rod ends mix the best of form with function; and at the back of the chassis, a show-detailed four link suspension combines with aluminum coil over shocks and a heavy duty rear sway bar to provide drag strip worthy launches. Keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of 17 inch Budnik Ozone wheels which wear 205/40 Sumitomo radials up front and 31×18.5 Hoosier Pro Street radials in the rear.

Prop the doors on this awesome street rod and you’ll find a Copperhead themed interior which was designed and executed by award winning designer Lucas Sanchez. Built around custom black leather buckets seats with actual snake skin inserts, this stunning cockpit wraps its occupants in a very well integrated six point roll cage and modern three point seat belts. At the front of the car, a body-matched dash centers billet aluminum vents around a full assortment of slick Classic Instruments All American Series gauges and a cool chrome Willys emblem. Below that dash a body-matched “Willys” branded and custom covered console flows from a Dual MP3 compatible CD player and Vintage Air climate control system past a B&M shifter and power window switches to an ignition killing ’suicide’ switch and polished emergency brake handle. And in front of the driver, a polished tilt steering column hangs a leather wrapped aluminum steering wheel above chrome pedals and a billet hood latch.

I have a willy wagtail nest under my patio and it is in the worst possible position. It is woven into the supp?

Porting wires of our patio.t is a mostly enclosed patio with television, rugs, nice furniture and we get droppings all over them and this is only the first set of babies! They get angry when we go out there and we spend alot of time out there in summer.They are almost ready to fly the coupe and was wondering if we can remove the nest before they lay another set of eggs?
I’m afraid they just made a bad choice of nesting area as they have come into our living area and although they have been fascinating to watch we are not going to let them rule our patio and ruin our outdoor living area!
Can anyone help, what can we do? I’m afraid we can’t move the nest without wrecking it.

Willy Wagtail is very territorial so removing the nest will involve a test of wills between human landlord and bird squatter rights.
We have had the same type of challenge with Mourning Doves here in the US. The doves and the Wagtails can each brood 4 or more pairs of young each breeding season. They are not neat in their toilet habits.
We eventually got rid of our doves when, after a fledge and before the next eggs were laid, we installed a large artificial snake very near the nest area and removed the nesting materials.

Power comes from a thundering 540 cubic inch GM crate motor, and the hand-made tube chassis is so trick that all the lines and plumbing were hidden inside to create a super-sanitary look. An Air Ride suspension manages ride height and gives this low down cruiser a wonderfully comfortable ride, and that feeling is enhanced by things like Vintage Air A/C and a leather interior that’s as nice as any found in high-end European luxury cars. Ok… I think they should come out with this title… "Need for Speed: 1971"

Man, that’d be cool. Set in the muscle car era. And even have a few hot rods from the ’30s and ’40s like the ‘32 Ford Coupe and the ‘41 Willys. The ’50s, ’60s and ‘70/’71. Have everything from the ‘36 Ford Deuce Coupe to the ‘55 Bel-Air to the ‘66 Coronet to the ‘70 Hemi Cuda and everything in between. And have upgrades from that time period. No NOS. No turbos. And make the game similar to "Need for Speed: Pro Street". Man, that’d be awesome.
Mike D: Not exactly like Pro Street. I liked the actual game play of Pro Street better than any other NFS game. Without the gay premise of some Japanese douche bag with the "Showdown King" title. The story part of the game WAS insanely stupid.

Full of modern technology and all the power options you’d want, as well as 625 thundering horsepower, this 1941 Willys coupe is a do-anything rod built by pros, and it’s poised to start taking home some very big trophies. It’s also completely sorted, scary fast, and amazingly comfortable.
J&R Streetrods built the steel-reinforced fiberglass body and finished it to show-winning standards. Every panel is as flat as Kansas, with a finish that you only find on rods with five-figure paint jobs. The trick flames lick between the two colors separating the upper and lower halves of the car, leaving you wondering if it’s champagne over root beer or vice-versa. And while the shape is ultra-traditional, some new tweaks were added to give this rod a unique personality, including shaved door handles, suicide doors, and rear wheel tubs to handle those massive rear tires. There’s no mistaking a Willys coupe, but this one has an identity all its own thanks to careful workmanship and attention to detail.
One thing you won’t have to worry about in this Willys is horsepower. Thanks to a 540 cubic inch GM crate motor that belts out 625 horsepower, this sleek coupe is more than just a parking lot poseur. Billet Specialties supplied the eye candy such as the valve covers, breathers, and air filter, while just about everything else was either chrome-plated or polishedAnd talk about attention to detail! Note how the flame pattern continues across the smoothed firewall, the perfectly fitted aluminum radiator in the nose, and the well-hidden wiring and plumbing throughout. The result is an extremely impressive engine bay that shows as well as the rest of the car.
The 2×6 tube chassis was also custom fabricated by the guys at J&R, and then powdercoated black for lasting durability. The transmission is a Phoenix heavy-duty 4L80E with a TCI control unit and a street-friendly 2500-RPM stall converter. Currie Enterprises built the custom narrowed Ford 9-inch out back, then stuffed it full of 4.10 gears and a Trac-Lok differential. A set of tubular upper and lower control arms support the front end, and use Air Ride Technologies Shockwave air spring and shock units to control both ride and ride height. Out back, a triangulated 4-link setup hooks the car to the pavement, again with a set of Air Ride Technologies shocks and a set of tubular control arms. It rides on a set of gorgeous Billet Specialties GTX01 aluminum wheels wearing Hoosier Pro-Street radials.
The front-opening doors reveal one of the most beautifully finished cabins this side of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. With acres of bone-colored leather, custom bucket seats, and high-end mocha colored carpets, you aren’t going to want to get out of this car because it’s nicer than your living room. Dolphin supplied the retro-looking gauges that are arrayed across the dash, while a custom console was fabricated to hold power window switches and the controls for the Vintage Air A/C system. And save your phone calls, because those stylized “W” logos on the door panels were machined just for this car and are not available anywhere at any price.
With 2372 miles on it, everything is fully sorted and it runs down the road like a production car, not a one-off custom. It’s also blindingly fast, if you have the guts to actually put your foot on the floor and let that gigantic big block off the leash. Impossible to duplicate and finished to award-winning standards, this Willys is a new twist on an old idea. Give us a call today!
