How can I help my contractions along?
Hey, I’m 41 weeks, 3 days pregnant.. Last night I was having contractions for about 9-10 hours. They were really irregular at first, then regulated to about 4 minutes between them, lasting about 50 seconds.. Anyway, I rang my midwife who told me to go in and get checked.. Got there and was still only 3cm. After being there a while baby turned back to back and things completely slowed down and they became irregular again. Midwife said it was likely to be a ’slow labour’ and sent me home until they became frequent again and told me to get lots of rest.
Well, I’ve managed about 5 hours sleep in between contractions, they were about 30 minutes apart so it wasn’t too bad. My back was KILLING though so I had a bath which eased things.. Got out the bath and now they’re closer together but are just coming willy nilly again! They’re between every 8 and 14 minutes. Midwife told me if the pain gets unbearable to ring up and go in, but I want to stay at home as long as poss even though they really hurt.
I’ve gone on a long walk, been on my birthing ball, and they’re still coming the same. Although, when at the hosp the pain was just in my back (presumably because bubs had turned back to back) and now they’re starting to come in my front again, as well as my back. Does that mean baby might have turned?
Anyway, is there anything I can do to help bring them on more? Or is it just a waiting game? I’m so tired ![]()
And is there anything I could do to help encourage bubs to turn round again?
Thanks ![]()
your baby should not be turning now he should be ingaged. pains do very though. you are doing all that you can do. showering is great because as long as you are in real labor the hot water hitting your body will help with pain and help with contractions coming closer. squating helps but you do that on your ball. it is a waiting game but dont wait to long. after 48 hours go get checked because your body may not be dilating at all.

have someone rub your ankles. especially the inner ankle.

Try massaging your ankles. This is supposed to dilate your cervix. Good luck to you.
